Ordinary Citizens Reclaiming America's Founding Principles
I am a former U.S. Marine that served with 1 Battalion, 9th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 11th MEU SOC which is a Marine Corp Special Operations Unit. It's a quick reactionary force or 911 force that the U.S. President can call on without the approval of Congress. One of the contingencies that they specialize in is Embassy and Consulate evacuations. At least two of these forces are suppose to be deployed on ships around the world at all times. One is deployed from the West Coast and the other the East Coast which is responsible for Africa, Europe, and Mediterranean. I am not sure where they were when the Benghazi attacks took place but its the kind of force that President Obama should have called on to help the Americans being attacked in Benghazi. But instead of calling on any of our very capable special operation units, the president let 4 Americans die in the hands of terrorist because it went against his narrative that GM is alive and Al Qaeda is dead.
I have traveled the world as a U.S. Marine and a civilian. I am not only concerned about U.S Embassies and Consulates because my follow Americans guard and serve in them but also because me and my family use their services. I want my family to be safe and secure while using their services.
Any way, after hearing and reading about the Benghazi attacks it was pretty obvious that the Obama Administration and Sec. Clinton did not do their jobs in making sure our outpost and people in Benghazi were secure, it was obvious there was not a protest, it was obvious it was an attack, it was obvious it wasn't over some video. it was obvious that they intentional did not send help, it was obvious they let 4 Americans die in the hands of terrorist, it was obvious they were lying, and it was obvious that there was a cover-up, so I wrote Congressman Garamendi expressing my thoughts.
Here is his reply-
Thank you for contacting me to express your thoughts about the devastating attack on the American Mission in Benghazi, Libya. Correspondence from constituents like you is essential to my work in Congress, and I hope that you will continue to share your opinions, ideas, and concerns with me so that I can best represent you in shaping national policy.
As you know, Libyan Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other U.S. personnel were attacked and killed by armed terrorists at the Benghazi mission on September 11, 2012. These men and women dedicated themselves selflessly serving our country and partnering with the Libyan people to build a new democratic government. As a former Peace Corp volunteer who served two years in Ethiopia with my wife, Patti, this tragedy is at once profound and personal. My thoughts and prayers remain with the families of these patriots, and I am confident their legacy of service will live on.
Like you, I believe all of us deserve answers. We must bring the terrorists who committed this atrocity to justice, and must fully investigate this attack so we can better protect our diplomats in the future. President Obama made a commitment to get to the bottom of the confusion that ensued, and I believe Congress also has a responsibility to help find out what went wrong so that something like it doesn't happen again.
Much has been done in the wake of the attack to understand what went on that day and what can be done to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton convened an Accountability Review Board to investigate the incident. The report concluded that, while responsibility for the attack rests solely with the terrorists who perpetrated it, systemic failures in Washington, DC led to key decisions that left the Special Mission in Benghazi with significant security shortfalls. Key leadership failures in the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, as well as in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, led to confusion over decision-making in relation to security and policy in Benghazi. Furthermore, decisions by the Department's senior leadership regarding the nature and extension of Special Mission Benghazi's unclear status also left it outside normal procedures for funding and security measures. Certain key facility standards and accountability measures were overlooked because of this.
Efforts to understand the makings of the tragedy were paired with action to ensure justice. Four State Department officials were removed from their posts in December of 2012. The Accountability Review Board made 29 recommendations to prevent a tragedy like this from happening again, and thanks to the efforts of a special task force, these recommendations were translated into 60 specific action items that were then assigned to bureaus for implementation. More is being learned about the militant groups that took part in the attack, and several Senate and House hearings have been held to further investigate the issue.
Despite the progress that's been made, I understand there is much left to do, and I want to thank you again for taking the time to write to me. Please be in touch in the future on other matters that are important to you. Feel free to reach me at my offices in Davis (530-753-5301), Yuba City (530-329-8865), or Washington, DC (202-225-1880). The newly released email ( Smoking Gun ) from Ben Rhodes to Susan Rice and other Obama Administration Officials is undeniable evidence that the Obama Administration clearly tried to coverup Benghazi for total political reasons and lied. Obama and Clinton clearly put their political ambitions above the lives of Americans that were serving and defending their country. They disrespected and betrayed those that serve in the Armed Forces and Clandestine Operations and especially those killed and injured in Benghazi and their families. They disrespected and betrayed all of America by lying to us.
Rep. Garamendi claims to respect and care for our Armed Forces Members and Veterans, but if he really cares he is going to have to take sides.
Rep. Garamendi, are you going to side with those who serve and defend America or those who lied to America ?
Dan Logue, are you going to confront Rep. Garamendi for backing and supporting Obama and Clinton after they tried to cover up Benghazi and lied to America ?
Tea Party Patriots, please join me in confronting Rep. Garamendi and forcing him to take sides. Do we want someone that is going to represent us and care for those who serve America or do we want someone that is going to support and back those who betrayed and lied to America ?
Sincerely- William Rogers
