Ordinary Citizens Reclaiming America's Founding Principles
Due to a Saturday telephone complaint by Darin Gale, Yuba City's Economic Growth & Public Affairs Director, to Robert Landon, Yuba City's Chief of Police, Chief Landon informed Larry Virga, SBTP, anyone holding an outdoor show, exhibition, march, or parade in Yuba City is required to have a City-issued permit.
Although freedom of speech and peaceful assembly are Constitutionally guaranteed rights, in this politically charged new age of selective tyranny, Cheryl Holt, YCPD, telephoned on Monday to ensure Sutter Buttes Tea Party would apply for a permit. We submitted the application but the insurance rider was insufficient. The insurance agent was contacted; the insurance agency prepared a specific insurance rider; the insurance agent faxed (and the applicant emailed) the insurance rider to the Yuba City Police Department; and the Yuba City Chief of Police has today granted permission to the Sutter Buttes Tea Party to exercise our constitutionally guaranteed rights to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly at a street rally in support of Trump for President on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Highway 20 in front of Red Robin, close to the intersection of Highway 99. We were "allowed" to stand with signs along one block of Hwy. 20.
